Akal, releasing the soul….

When a person dies, in Kundalini Yoga we chant the mantra ‘Akal’.   

The mantra ‘Akal’ is chanted to help release the soul from its attachment to this life.  ‘There is no death, only liberation’.

The death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ….I am no royalist, but I take great pleasure in getting lost in a period drama series or film.

I find freedom getting lost in the history of the monarchy, when it’s written, directed and produced for Television, for me to really understand. I love to watch, Downton Abbey, The Crown, Elizabeth, Bridgerton.

I laugh & I am eager to understand how a women’s destiny is to find a suiter, that will give her finance & security.

The Queen is all I have ever known.  Queen Elizabeth II, her face, her presence her reign.  On money, stamps. Over the years, seeing countries become independent from Britain & thinking how were they ever connected…& hearing the Queen was connected to over 40 other countries….MMMMmmm…Life can be so grand, yet so short.

Its really weird because at the time of the news flash, sharing the Queen was very ill, I felt her soul was already in transition, she had already passed.

Grief has the most profound impact on our physical & emotional well-being.

For me it waxes & wanes through me stirring up memories, feelings & emotions. Causing the most amount of commotion in my mind, body & soul. Leaving me at times in my experience feeling physically exhausted, dis-ease, scatty, loss of memory, drifting in & out of an Ibis. Thinking about living & dieing. I could go on.

For me the past few years, have been a deeply emotional. Its been a feeling of loss & overall sadness. Stirring up feelings, emotions of the loss of a ‘Matriarch’. My grandmother, rumbles memories.

This year seems like the year, for Family & friends close to me to loose their ‘Monarch’, their ‘Matriarch’, this has triggered in me a feeling to grab & experiences life, not loose time make memories with my ‘Monarch’. But it’s also given me space to have empathy for other people’s grief & emotional well-being. Where they are at in the emotion, commotion of loss.

When I give myself the opportunity, my mind wonders into another person’s thoughts & feelings. I walk in their shoes. I sit in great wonder how the Prime minister must feel, her thoughts, in the short moments, days. You curtsied , shook hands & was welcomed into your role, by a Queen & then just like that you rose from your curtsy there now standing before you is a ‘King’.

Chanting the manta “Akaal” was, has and is great support through the grieving process.

Akal

The mantra ‘Akal’ maybe chanted in a practice dedicated to helping the soul rise in a group of family & friends chant for a loved one using the “Akaal” sound repetitively for 11 minutes over 17 days. Creating a powerful Echo sound cloud of word ‘Akal’. The sound translates into “no death, deathless, immortal, timeless.” It reminds the soul of its basic nature. It can also be chanted by one person alone, for 11 minutes over the 17 days.

This year alone, I have chanted, the mantra, more times than I can remember, for the ‘Queen’ Monarch of families & close friends because they have lost the heads of their families, their loved ones their ‘Queens’ to their thrones.

I am feeling, carrying loss, for all Queens, heads of families. A deeper emotion in my commotion for all loved ones around me, dear to my heart. It has taken me time to post this, as I am waxing & waning through my own personal grief & loss. But I embrace the emotion to be authentic & open in sharing.

In all of this past & present “no death, deathless, immortal, timeless….The Queen of England passes. ‘AKAL’ day 11, reminding the soul of its basic nature.

99 to go…

Yoga Sara, Thursday’s 7:45pm-9:15pm. 

It’s not long now, before the festive season begins. Then it’s tick, tok, the clock strikes & its a new year!

I had an email sent to me today, that started with the sentence “There are 99 meals left, before Christmas day”

99 meals!

33 breakfasts, 33 lunches & 33 dinners.

I don’t know about you, but there are enough days there for you to break a habit, reflect, create new, leave behind.  Build a strong Kundalini practice, Meditation, Mantra, Breath Awareness, anything need.

Start with, Thursdays 7:45pm-9:15pm Kundalini Yoga at Yogasara Bristol.

Let’s work together, making changes to see changes….

Starting with you….yes you! Take a deep breath… It’s OK, to feel, the feels, & love on yourself.

Changes for Change.

It’s is definitely time to make changes for change.

It’s baby steps but I am doing things differently to have a different outcome.

It’s funny how an element of fear and resistance set in when your on the brink of a new pattern, action, pathway to a better outcome.

I have not quite got my perfect day…perfect routine, however there is calm, no rushing, no anxiety. I use my breath, respect my breath and breath into my existence.

Changes for change…..

I Am Happy, I Am Good, I Am Happy, I Am Good…

This time last week, I was preparing to go camping alone, to a festival alone.  I have been reflecting a lot about myself.  Am I Happy? Am I Good?

To be honest my happiness, as morphed into a ‘Happi-Mess’.  A Happy-Mess of worrying, not Happy, not good.

It didn’t take long, during reflection to see, my ‘Happi-Mess’…because the feeling, discomfort is actually stronger than the visualisation. 

My ‘Happi-Mess’ moves in waves, sailing through ups and downs successfully finding the medium of yes you’ve guessed it, a ‘Happi-Mess’.

Happi-Mess, is a balance where everyone around me, is happy, healthy and whole in their comings and goings because they have my time, attention and will to do has they please to be consistently ‘Happy, and Good’.  Whilst I remain in my Happi-Mess, grasping oh so sweet moments of being Happy and Good.

I have no one to look to, but myself, I can only make choices for myself so in a funny sort of….I want to break free, from this ‘Happi-Mess’, I began to look at what I did not like, what I was doing, my habits, patterns that had created my you guessed it my ‘Happi-Mess’.

Looking around me, there are no longer babies, young ones, family who need my time and support.  They can manage, but make choices to hold my time and support.

So little by little, I have been making I am Happy, I Am Good choices.

Yes, Yes, Yes! Go, Go, Go! Choices.  So here I am all booked up to go camping 🏕…at a Festival ☺, Vegan, Holistic Festival…Everything that makes me ‘Happy’, makes me ‘Good’.  Releasing myself from my ‘Happi-Mess’, that is unfulfilled.

I explored delicious Vegan food, walked, slept under the stars adoring the Moon, in its crescent 🌙form.

I watched the Sun rise…

And watched the Sunset.

I danced until nearly midnight, invited my body to return to Yoga, find my ‘Yoke’ to be open, stretching with no clocks, no alarms. 

Sat by a lake, stepped into the lake, wade in the water…sending my ‘Happi-Mess’ away, for me to become Happy and Good.

I chose to live in the moment, using balance…I felt I didn’t have to ‘Paddle Board’

Balance is always within
Ripples of Future Happiness 💧

And just like that…I made a single choice….I Am Happy, I Am Good, I Am Happy, I Am Good….

Hello April

Time to Live, Love, Laugh

This new month gives us the opportunity to make choices and changes.

It’s obvious things will never be the same again, we can never go back.

The biggest lesson, I have learned is to protect your energy….Although almost a little too late…Slipping into situational depression as been a sluggish trail of mixed up thoughts….snowflakes for confidence.

I choose to love, live, laugh….
